Taoba filmfest in Georgia to host Iran’s ‘Sphinx’

The Taoba Int'l Youth Film Festival in Georgia is to host Iranian short ‘Sphinx’.

The Taoba International Youth Film Festival (TaobaFF) in Georgia has been slated to host Iranian short flick ‘Sphinx’.

Directed by Hamid Yousefi, the short flick will be among the titles to compete at the 6th edition of the Georgian event.

“It took a year from pre-production to post production. Because I was the producer and also it was an independent movie, so it took long time to make it”, says the director of the film.

He goes on describing the film as it being “free adaptation of Oedipuse written by Sophocle”.

The writing team of the work, comprised of Romina Roshanbin and Yousefi, added the theme of childhood fears to the story and tried to make it universal.

‘Sphinx’ has already taken part in a number of global film events, including the TRAme Independenti Film Festival and the Cinemadamare film festival, both in Italy.

The TaobaFF aims to create a platform for the discovery and promotion of new talent, and to provide a space for filmmakers, film lovers, and industry professionals to come together and share their passion for film.

This year’s edition of the fest, to be held on September 25-October 01, will showcase a diverse range of films from around the world, including short and feature-length films in various genres and styles.
